There are many different types of planes with varied amenities and services offered in-flight. It is hard to get a consensus on the best passenger airplane in the world. But here are our suggestions for the top ten airplanes for comfort, speed and fuel efficiency.

✈ 1. ATR 72-500

This plane offers a quiet, comfortable and spacious cabin with a new design and an in-flight entertainment system. It also offers the lowest seat-mile cost in its class. It has low fuel costs and very less engine and airframe maintenance costs.

✈ 2. Boeing 747 8 Intercontinental

This plane is sleek and quiet. In fact, it is 30% quieter, 16% more fuel-efficient, and has a 13% lower seat-mile costs than previous models. It has a new feature called “SkyLoft” that offers full beds, entertainment appliances and business equipment.

✈ 3. Airbus A380 900

The Airbus A380 is a gigantic airplane. It has a normal seating capacity of 650 passengers, but can seat almost 900 people in the economy-only configuration. This makes it the world’s largest airplane and it is being used by Emirates, Virgin Atlantic, Cathay Pacific, Air France-KLM, Lufthansa, and Kingfisher Airlines.

✈ 4. Boeing 787 10X Dreamliner

This plane is not as large as some others and can seat a maximum 290 passengers. It was the first airliner to be built with composite materials for most of its construction and Boeing claims it is the best for fuel consumption. One special feature is that they reduce the internal cabin pressure equivalent of 6,000 feet (1,800 m) altitude instead of the 8,000 feet (2,400 m) for better passenger comfort.

✈ 5. Embraer 195

This is not a large plane and its 108-seat capacity makes it a good choice for regional or collector routes. This Brazilian airplane first flew in 2004 and is powered by twin under-wing General Electric CF34-10E engines. It operates on a computerized system that adjusts engine performance during the various phases of a flight.

✈ 6. Embraer 190

This is a larger version of the Embraer 195. It has a larger wing, larger horizontal stabilizer and a new engine, the GE CF34-10E. This is an airline favoured by many low-cost airlines like JetBlue in the United States.

✈ 7. Bombardier C130

This Canadian-built plane is a relatively new arrival on the scene. It has a seating capacity of 130 and because of its construction, it offers a lower seat-mile cost as compared to other planes in its class. It is made from 46% composite materials and 24% aluminum-lithium which reduces the overall maintenance costs as well.

✈ 8. Airbus A320

The Airbus A320 is one of the best in the Airbus family. It is fast and has a maximum cruising speed is 903 km/h. It was the first airplane to introduce a fly-by-wire flight control system, and it has an electronic flight-deck, with EFIS color displays and innovative side-stick controllers.

✈ 9. Airbus A321

This is the next phase of development in the A320 model. It offers a stretched fuselage and strengthening of the undercarriage to carry heavy weights. It features better engine performance and larger tires for greater braking control, which also allows for fast, flexible and reliable implementation of aircraft maintenance.

✈ 10. Boeing 777 300ER

The Boeing 777-300ER has been around since February 2003. Some of its better qualities include more powerful General Electric GE90-115B engines and new landing gear. Its engines are some of the world’s most powerful and with extra fuel tanks and a more solid body, it can cover longer distances as well.
