7 Common Dental Procedures to Have the Best Oral Health

4

Sine you were a child, your parents, and perhaps your local family dentist, told you to always brush your teeth twice a day, floss every day and rinse before bed. For whatever reason, we have forgotten those sage words and have omitted the most basic of dental hygiene routines from our lives. Now that you have staining, a bit of yellow and some bad breath, it’s time to improve your oral health. It’s time to start to go back to basics – and, no, white strips will not be your saviour.

Here are seven common dental procedures to have the best oral health:

1. Brush Like You Mean It

Many of us do not brush our teeth properly. All we do is grab a tube of toothpaste and a toothbrush and brush from left to right. This is wrong. You need to go behind your teeth as well, brush your tongue and move in a circular motion. Oh, and change your toothbrush every 60 days.

2. Flossing is Essential Today

Unfortunately, most of us do not floss – is it because we’re lazy? But now it’s time to reverse this trend and unlock the power of floss; this string can gain access to parts of your teeth that a standard toothbrush cannot.

3. Mouthwash Comes Next

The very last step to take in your nightly dental procedure?Mouthwash. After you have brushed and flossed, you must rinse your mouth with mouthwash for about 30 seconds.

4. Always Rinse Your Mouth After Eating

Breakfast, lunch or dinner…it would be a wise idea to rinse your mouth after every meal. By doing this, you get rid of any leftovers that stay behind in your mouth and eventually rot.

5. Beware of Tobacco

One of the biggest detriments to sublime oral health is tobacco smoking. Cigarettes are only terrible for your body, they are also horrendous for your teeth. They can cause gum disease, tongue cancer and so many negative dental health effects.

6. Your Diet Will Play a Big Role

Like cigarettes, your diet will play a big role in your overall dental health. When you want to achieve white teeth and avoid cavities, you need to adopt a well-balanced diet – fruits, vegetables, grains, etc. – and refrain from consuming too much sugar. Simply put: put away that box of ice cream and that bag of gummy bears and eat some more carrots and apples.

7. Visit Your Dentist Often

Indeed, one of the most important dental procedure to employ is visiting your dentist on a regular basis. Some people see their dentist four times a year, while others see their hygienist twice a year. Whatever the case, the most important thing is to actually book an appointment with your dental professional. This dental procedure can do wonders for your overall health.

    • I’m going to give you the same advice my mom taught me when I was young: use mouthwash, brush your teeth like you mean to care for them, and remember to use dental floss. The right way to floss is to do it in between your teeth twice per day to get the food particles out.

    • You probably shouldn’t… However, I’m not the real expert here, so you should probably ask your dentist this question and see if there’re any alternatives to flossing.
