Are you considering a catering service for the office? You’d want to make this a fun event as well as a successful one, wouldn’t you? There are so many things to take into consideration as you begin to start planning for it. If it’s an unforgettable experience, it could be the first of many you’ll be planning! Here are some great tips to help make this a wonderful occasion.
1. Have Variety
Don’t just go for a sandwich platter (though you can certainly have it); by having a bit of variety, you’re bound to have a chorus of “oohs and aahs” echoing for longer than it should! How about considering a buffet-style of hot, filling food? You could consider a yummy finger food platter so that there’s not much of a mess and people can get right back to work.
2. Plan For Everyone
Make sure to plan the event in a way that doesn’t leave anyone out. That means, cater to those who are vegetarian and vegan, have gluten-free options as well as taking allergies into consideration. Make sure to look into lactose intolerance. The last thing you want is for your co-workers to become unwell (one would assume), so gather information well beforehand and convey this to the caterers. It might be a good idea to have a little more vegetarian food, since a lot of people who eat meat will have a go as well.
3. Don’t Forget The Little Things
You’re so busy planning for the food that you may just forget to get the little things that go with it. Make sure to get enough napkins, plates, cutlery, wet wipes, hand sanitizers and mints, just to name a few. This will make it go more smoothly.
4. Offer Healthy Options
Yes, perhaps that cream of cholesterol soup or frozen trans fat bars might go down nicely, but make sure to offer healthier options as well. Some people will be very conscious of eating healthy while others may take it or leave it, but the important thing is to have it available. Have a fruit bowl and offer things such as Sun Chips or Luna Bars instead of Ruffles. Don’t completely skimp on the naughtier munchies. By all means, have some treats for those who prefer the “bad” stuff. You wouldn’t want people whining, would you?
Don’t forget to factor in the time. If you need to get back to work, you don’t want to spend more time than you should, especially in cleaning up, etc. Have hot and cold foods, get some coffee and tea, muffins and other yummy things to nibble on. Plan on having it delivered on time. Planning is key, so take your time and it will run so well that you may want to do this again and again!
